Monika Baran - Dip. Therapeutic Counselling & Psychotherapy

MBACP (Reg)

Hi, my name is Monika. I am a Person-Centred counsellor and my approach is cross-cultural and Humanistic.   I offer a safe and confidential environment, allowing you to explore your feelings and thoughts without any judgement.   I believe that ‘you’ are the ‘expert’ and I will try to meet you exactly ‘where you are’.  My aim is to focus on your experience and unconditionally accept you.  I will support the direction you take in each session, trusting that you know what you need to talk about to work through the issues you bring to therapy.  Our relationship will be based on equality and will be a genuine partnership between two real and unique human beings.  I believe we can all find meaning, purpose and fulfilment in our lives given the right environment and support.

Examples of issues I work with:

• Self Worth / Self Esteem Issues

• Relationship Issues

• Loss and Bereavement

• Miscarriage /Infant Loss and Fertility Issues

• Cultural Issues

• Identity Issues

• Adjusting to Change / Life Transitions

• Work, Life Balance

• Anxiety and Stress

• Autism

• Isolation Issues

• Spirituality

About me:

I have been working with vulnerable adults with mental-health issues as a performing arts support worker for the past six years.  This work has shown me how important it is for people to have the right environment and support and the difference this can make to their lives.  This led to the realisation that I wanted to become a counsellor and offer support to others to achieve their potential.  I have been a volunteer counsellor for the past three years at Mind Clarity, Wirral Change and Tomorrow’s Women Wirral. Counselling within these organisations has given me an insight into the life experiences of many people that I would never have had the opportunity to know otherwise. I worked with a variety of clients from various backgrounds, giving me a broad range of issues and clients to connect with, including different ethnic and cultural groups.
