I am a Therapeutic Counsellor who works primarily from a (CBT) Cognitive Behavioural approach, while also offering an eclectic blend of Person Centred Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness Therapies, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping) and Neuro Linguistic Programming.
As well as general therapy I have gained experience working with all Domestic Abuse and Episodic Psychotic based issues. These include: Trauma, Anxiety Issues (General Anxiety Disorders, Panic Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Phobias), Affective Issues (Depression, Bipolar) Psychosis, Personality Disorders, Guilt/Shame, Sexuality/Sexual Identity/LGBTQIA+, Self-Esteem and Confidence problems. I also have experience working with the specific needs of Armed Forces and Emergency Services.
In my practice I will offer you a confidential space to work through your difficulties at a deeper level. I work from a basis that our difficulties arise from the pressures and conditions that life exerts upon us rather than any genetic defects. As such I firmly believe it is possible to recover from any emotional or mental issue/problem.
Whether you just want to feel better or want to work through deep seated issues, I am offer a warm, caring, non-judgemental, secure and collaborative therapeutic environment where you can explore issues and problems to find resolution.
My Background
Following a rewarding career as a Quantity Surveyor, I became passionate about supporting people and began my training to work in the mental health sector in 2011. I went on to gain qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Counselling, Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming. To date I enjoy continued study and development of my knowledge in these areas.
In my experience of working with survivors and perpetrators of domestic abuse and trauma, I have realised the most effective way of supporting mental health problems is through early intervention.
I addition to my work as a counsellor I have also trained with MHFA England to become an approved facilitator of their suite of Mental Health Courses.
