Janet Neville - MBACP (Reg) - Dip.Therapeutic Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Person Centred and Intergrative
Hi, my name is Janet, I am a professionally trained counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults 18 and over.
I am a warm, empathic person and I am committed to listening and understanding your problems no matter what they are.
I will enable a supportive, therapeutic relationship where you will not feel judged, and you will feel safe to explore your problems and share painful or confusing thoughts and feelings.
My counselling approach is Person Centred which holds a fundamental belief that you can grow and find your own answers to overcome your problems whilst being supported to do so in a therapeutic relationship where you are heard and listened to.
I work intuitively and holistically and provide an honest, open, safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in which we can explore your difficulties. I will walk alongside you and help you to understand aspects of your self so that you can develop a healthier relationship with your thoughts and feelings and so enable you to make positive changes in your life and develop healthier patterns of relating.
About Me
As a Mental Health Advocate in the workplace, I have supported colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds and gained a lot of experience dealing with mental health problems caused by workplace, family and financial pressures.
I worked as a counsellor in a carers centre counselling carers and people being cared for and I was a carer for my mother who suffered from Lewy Body Dementia, so I understand how ill health can impact mental health and the relationships of all involved.
I counselled people who were grieving, either because of bereavement or because of the loss of the life they had before their illness or caring for someone who was ill.
I have also worked as a counsellor for Place2be with primary school children and their families. I am a great believer that receiving counselling as a child can prevent deeper issues in later life and help a child grow towards being their authentic self who realises they are not what happened to them and do not need to live in the misery of their trauma and take it into their future. My work with adults will explore these childhood experiences either for the first time or by revisiting previous work. I will always ensure I work at a pace you are comfortable with.
I have particular experience in domestic violence & abuse, co-dependency and recovery from narcissistic abuse. I feel passionate that others can experience personal growth through counselling just as I did. I have personally experienced cognitive dissonance and post traumatic stress (PTSD) as a result of trauma caused by physical, emotional and financial abuse and I understand the complexities of these relationships.
I can help you to strengthen your boundaries, gain resilience and feel empowered so that you can experience healthy relationships and a fulfilling life.
Some of the issues I am experienced in working with are:
Addiction
Anxiety & Depression
Anger Management
Bereavement
Co dependency
Coping skills
Divorce
Domestic violence
Mood disorders
Narcissistic recovery
Relationship issues
Self esteem
Stress
