About Me
Hi, I’m Sally. I’m originally from rural Perthshire, Scotland and moved to Liverpool to expand both professionally and personally. I’ve really appreciated the warmth of welcome I have received here.
My career began in academic research in Psychology & Health. While I valued this work, I found myself drawn to something more relational and connected to personal growth, which led me to train as a psychotherapist. This felt like a natural and meaningful step.
Alongside my training, I taught psychology and later counselling programmes.
I have worked in third sector organisations supporting some of the most vulnerable groups of people (In Care Survivors Service - Scotland) and RASASC.
I have also worked with children and young people in schools and in outdoors settings with Venture Trust (Scotland)
My Approach:
Individual work:
As a Gestalt therapist, my approach is warm, inclusive, grounded in curiosity and respect. I offer a space where you can slow things down, feel met and begin to make sense of what's happening for you.
I have experience supporting clients with many issues, particularly those who are feeling overwhelmed by change, including – challenges in relationships, career or a sense of identity. My work is trauma informed, and I aim to offer sessions that are paced, relational and tailored for you. Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.
Therapy can offer a space to slow down, be met with care and explore what matters to you at your own pace. You don't have to have the right words to begin. I also offer a ‘walk and talk’ option for individual clients. This option is thoughtfully structured, with careful consideration given to the environment, risk, and health and safety. I have completed Outdoor First Aid training to support this work.
Couple’s work:
My approach to couples counselling is about offering a calm, steady space where individuals and couples can tend to their relationships with care and respect. My role is to create a space where each person feels seen and heard, and able to speak honestly.
When helpful, I may offer gentle psychoeducation - exploring how nervous systems, attachment patterns, unresolved trauma and communication styles live within relationships and shape how we connect, protect, and repair.
Working with relationships, particularly when there are feelings of stuck-ness, hurt, betrayal or loneliness takes time, and bravery. I recognise the courage it takes to step forward and look at what is happening between you. Relationship counselling does not guarantee a particular outcome. Instead, it offers a way of understanding and reflecting on each person within a relationship with compassion and respect and often new insight.
Whether you are hoping to reconnect, find clarity, or make sense of what feels unresolved, counselling can offer a thoughtful space to slow things down and listen more carefully. You don't need to know where you are heading - only that something here deserves care and
attention.
