Rachel Hart – Person-Centred & Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist
MBACP, BSc (Hons) Therapy for Individuals

About Me
Hi, I’m Rachel. In a world of over 8 billion people, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure where to turn.
As an integrative, person-centred counsellor, I draw on different methods to suit your needs. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to offer a supportive, professional relationship where you can feel safe, understood, and confident to take the next steps that feel right for you.
I often hear that therapy can feel rigid or overly clinical. I believe it should feel different, a welcoming space, with a cosy chair, where you can be authentic without judgement. Sessions focus on what matters to you, exploring your experiences at your own pace rather than following a strict checklist.
I recognise you might feel awkward or sceptical, and I want to reassure you that therapy is a place where you can feel safe to express yourself. Within our sessions, you can share at your own pace. I will approach your experiences with confidence and respect, ensuring our sessions feel authentic and empowering. Nothing is too big or too small to bring.
Experience and Training
My journey started with personal experience, once I found the right support it felt like the light had been turned on for me, it sparked a deep desire to support others in finding that same clarity and relief, and I decided to train as a counsellor.
During my training at a charity supporting women through a range of mental health challenges and experiences of domestic abuse, I learned first-hand how the right environment and approach can facilitate personal growth, help people feel understood, and find ways to navigate challenges that once felt impossible or overwhelming.
Once qualified, I topped up my training to a bachelor’s degree in counselling, where I deepened my knowledge of trauma as well as child and adolescent development. I chose to focus on these areas because I am particularly interested in how early experiences and traumatic events can shape wellbeing, relationships, and self-understanding in later life. My dissertation explored the experiences of women who encountered diagnostic delays for ADHD, reflecting my commitment to supporting neurodivergent adults to process and make sense of their experiences.
How I Work
My primary orientation is Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), which focuses on creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space. I also integrate elements of CBT, ACT, and other modalities, where relevant and discussed collaboratively, to explore unhelpful patterns, support emotional regulation, and strengthen wellbeing.
I tailor each session to your immediate needs and long term goals, helping you process your experiences, and build a more secure and fulfilling relationship with yourself and others.
I am a member of the BACP, follow their ethical guidelines, and hold full professional
indemnity insurance. I undertake regular supervision and continuing professional
development to ensure my practice is current, safe, and responsive to emerging
insights in mental health.
Who I Work With
I work with adults 18+ facing a variety of challenges, from anxiety and low mood to grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and the impact of trauma, whether recent or past.
I also support neurodivergent individuals, including those with late or suspected diagnosis.
