How Counselling Can Help

Life's struggles and sometimes our upbringing can condition our mind in a way that sabotages our ability to feel positive. When we have the opportunity to explore and process our problems we can gain a deeper understanding of who we are and how our struggles affect us. Exploring our issues in therapeutic space can lead to greater self awareness and the development of new thinking and coping skills. I aim to help you build a stronger sense of self which can support you in making the right choices and changes for you to live a more fulfilling, authentic life.

My Background

I was born and brought up in Northern Ireland in the 70’s amidst the conflict. My experiences of the impact that war can have on society, our self belief system and how we relate to others has very much shaped my interest and understanding of trauma. I have also had a personal journey of overcoming childhood abuse which has gave me a deep understanding of healing the wounded inner child, reparenting ourselves, attachment and relationship difficulties.

I made the decision to become a counsellor having experienced my own personal therapy and the positive impact it had on my life.

When we have the opportunity to share our truth to someone unrelated who listens with-out judgement, understands our pain, believes in us and nurtures us with care and compassion, we experience a unique relational experience that can greatly assist us in our journey of self discovery.

I am passionate about supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, emotional neglect, abandonment, relationship difficulties, domestic violence and narcissistic abuse. My aim is to empower and help you regain your identity to not just be a survivor but a thriver.

Many of us go through life hiding our pain. You don't have to suffer alone. Counselling can ease your burden by helping you expand your self-awareness, set personal boundaries, and develop new thinking habits and coping skills.

I believe in the forming of a quality therapeutic relationship to set the foundation for your healing to take place. You are always the director of your sessions and I will be there by your side supporting you on your journey of self.
